Ability Guide

Each trip’s ability level is the minimum level required for that trip.

Level 1
You have limited experience riding off-road terrain but have some road cycling experience. You are capable of controlling bike speed and direction on smooth singletrack trails with gentle grade with some sections of uneven terrain. 

Level 2
You have been mountain biking for at least one year or have good general riding skills and good fitness. You are capable of controlling bike speed and direction on moderately steep singletrack. You are excited to mountain bike once or twice a week during the summer to help you prepare for your trip. You can ride three to five hours in a day.

Level 3
You have been riding for at least two years, are confident in your climbing and descending skills and are in good shape. You ride two to four days a week and go on several trips each summer. You would embrace more riding time to help you prepare for your trip. You can ride four to six hours per day.

Level 4
You have been riding for over five years and are confident riding all types of terrain and distances. You ride as often as possible and have owned several mountain bikes. You can descend steeps, climb for hours and can ride multiple, long days in a row.

Level 5
You ride to live, live to ride and seek adventure. You can ride up to seven hours per day and crave your mountain bike. You can handle very technical trails both up, and down.
