Mountain Bike Holiday in Mexico

Put that margarita down and listen up: Mexico is more than glitzy beach resorts full of plump touristas dipped in coconut oil and greasy all-you-can-eat buffets. Just inland lies Copper Canyon in the northern state of Chihuahua and another world with time-warped colonial towns, dramatic big mountain scenery, lush and fertile valleys and thundering waterfalls surrounded by fragrant coniferous forests of pine and Douglas fir. The area is laced with a network of endless singletrack and high plateaus with mind-blowing ridge rides and five spectacular deep gorges that are each deeper than the USA's Grand Canyon. On rides you'll meet indigenous Tarahumara women hiking along what seems to be a deserted mountain path wearing bright, multicolored skirts and roll into towns that have changed little since the Mexican Revolution. Forget the all-inclusive resort, its time to experience another side of Mexico.

Copper Canyon: Cross-Country Mountain Biking

We start this golden nugget in the dusty railroad town of Creel where the singletrack is fast and flowing and the horsemen still promenade the main street on Friday nights. We spend the first two and a half days based in town riding slickrock features and sweeping singletrack through forested mesas and tight pastoral valleys. Then it's off to the big canyons for a combination of double track and singletrack with some big climbs and big descents in some of the most spectacular landscape and views you could imagine. Each night we sit out under the stars with a cold beer and relish in the fine day of pedaling. Your guides on this trip will be local riding pioneers who will unlock the key to this riding paradise.
